In 1995, a new TGV line was built to interconnect the entire eastern basin of France with Paris: the TGV Est. It is within this framework that we took part in the realization of the first 30 kms of the section within a dense town planning.

Methodology

Tisseyre + Associés has distinguished itself by investing in research & development in order to offer integrated, optimized and low-cost acoustic and vibration technical solutions. We start from the observation that architecture and town planning have important implications for the acoustic comfort of use of spaces (both interior and exterior). This is why we have developed 3D project modeling tools that allow us to model soundscapes in the future state of completion in order to ensure joint work with the Project Owner at each stage until rendering.

Tasks

Vibration control

The creation of TGV tracks in a dense urban area can cause both vibration and acoustic nuisance. We checked the vibratory impact in close configuration.

Environmental acoustics

We first identified all the pre-existing sound sources on the 30km section. Then, thanks to our 3D modeling tools of the soundscapes in the future state of completion, we were able to model the impact of the TGVs on the neighbors and design optimized and integrated solutions. Indeed, the 3D visualization of the sound propagation at the foot, in front and around a building during a passage of a TGV at any time of the day makes it possible to identify with finesse the points of acoustic tensions expected and to treat them. Thus, we were able to implement, together with the architect, acoustic insulation solutions, integrated and optimized according to the needs and uses of each neighbor.

The use of statistical data on measurements carried out in similar environments, motor data, taking into account the topography of the site, taking into account the sensitivity of the neighbors makes it possible to refine the model and to optimize the protective solutions. By modeling their shape and their materials, homogeneous or heterogeneous, the optimization of TGV screens, or even transparent screens on road viaducts is significant of the total control of the efficiency / cost / aesthetics of the studied protections.
