The extension and rehabilitation of Réunion airport have been designed to be the first bioclimatic airport in the world. This ambitious project of nearly 28,000 m² aims to benefit from solar radiation and natural air circulation, via a natural ventilation system, to reduce energy consumption.
Methodology
The acoustic firm Tisseyre + Associés has developed a joint working methodology with the architect. Indeed, our 4D digital modeling tool for soundscapes in the future state of completion, the BIMAE®, is an essential work support for close collaboration with architects and urban planners at all stages of the project. The BIMAE® allows a joint study of the internal and external functions of the projects and the 3D visualization of the sound propagation at the foot, on the facade and around a building at all times of the day. Thus, we were able to anticipate, optimize and integrate the acoustic solutions within the architecture of the project.
Tasks
Environmental acoustic mission
Considering the sound levels of aircraft in operation, a natural ventilation system for the terminal was a real acoustic challenge. Thanks to environmental acoustic BIM – BIMAE®, our 4D digital mock-up centre, we dynamically checked the sound exposure levels during the landing, take-off, maneuvering and parking phases of aircraft. The BIMAE®, associated with the model in the wind tunnel of the CSTB, made it possible to observe the propagation of the sound levels of an aircraft both outside and inside the passenger halls. This tool thus accompanied the sizing of acoustic treatments optimized and integrated into the architecture and layout of the project, from design to implementation, throughout the development of the natural ventilation measured in the Eiffel wind tunnel of the CSTB.
Electro-acoustic mission
Thanks to our Hall Electroacoustic 3D model software®, we were able to size the electro-acoustic solutions in the terminal halls right from the design phase so that each message was perfectly intelligible to users. By anticipating electro-acoustic solutions, we can integrate them into the architecture. This integration not only represents financial and time savings but is also synonymous with comfort and quality. Since the architecture of an environment is structuring for its acoustics, providing electro-acoustic solutions upstream allows better integration of solutions into the architecture and comfort in use: the loudspeakers are designed to perfect the acoustics of an architectural space according to uses and not to compensate for defects.
